Description
This guitar just came from the Luthier where we had a neck reset and fresh fret leveling. Over all it is in really good condition. The back of the headstock shows some wear. Schaller replacement tuners. Original hardshell case in fair condition.

History and Characteristics
• The “Secret D-18”: Unlike modern D-16 models, the original 1980s D-16M is widely compared to a Martin D-18 or D-18V because of its traditional dovetail neck joint and lightweight, forward-shifted scalloped bracing.
• Limited Production: Martin manufactured a relatively small total run (around 2,120 units) alongside other wood variants like ash, koa, and walnut.
• Discontinuation: Rumor among players and collectors suggests the D-16M was eventually phased out because its high quality and lower price tag made it difficult to sell higher-priced D-18 models.
